My Philosophy

I believe we are energetic beings living in animal bodies. I believe it’s our birth right to be in our bodies however it asks us, and I lead by example while I hold space for others. My dharama, otherwise known as my purpose, is to help others who resonate with my path remember they are their wisest healers. I consider myself a loving rebel. I like to break rules most don’t even know they’re following.

I’ve tried on a lot of identities, teachings, practices, healings, talk therapy sessions, trainings, etc. that have caused a lot of suffering in my life because my nature is intense and loves to feel the depths of the human experience. I learned to love power, strength and sweat during my first yoga teacher training. After injuring myself too many times, I fell in love with nourishment, stability, healing and Restorative Yoga during my 340 hour training. I have needed different styles of yoga during different seasons of my life, and I respect all traditions and paths.Today I guide my clients to learn the language and wisdom of their bodies through movement, rest, breath-work, energy work and bodywork. During each experience, whether a private session or group class, I build a safety net for my clients to “just be”. I build this safety net with demonstrations, verbal guidance, and hands on support.

I’m here to guide you back to your “beingness” where true freedom resides. Yoga is just the tool that brings you there.

Studios & communities I had the honor of guiding:

Dear Humans,

I have lived extended periods of time in dullness, instability and confusion. I have felt alone, lost, and unworthy often. The past fourteen years I have dedicated my life to discovering tools and skills to heal, transform and awaken. Do I have days that I am uncertain and question what the hell am I doing with my life? Definitely. Is my life sparkles and sunshine everyday? No way. I thrive today because I know I am my wisest healer. I don’t need anyone or anything outside of myself to feel complete.

The gifts I have received from yoga, energy work, art and outdoor adventures have empowered me to see how I react to life is always my choice. During my twenties I decided to be a "sponge". I received my bachelor's in Recreation & Tourism, completed a 200 hour and a 340 hour yoga teacher training program, became a Reiki Master, and took many trips, workshops and trainings in between. I also opened my first yoga studio, Great Blue Yoga. It was a blast and full of ups and downs! I learned a wealth of wisdom on the topics of boundaries, self-love, worthiness, balanced relationships, honest communication, and forgiveness.

Now as I walk into my thirties, I feel it is my time to share these experiences and tools to help others embrace their truth and accept nourishment into their lives.

My deepest desire is to guide clients to the void of pure potential that thrives inside us all. My teaching style encourages the exploration of the mental, energetic and physical layers to discover connections and deeper awareness.

Most people ask, "What do you mean by void?"
I chose to use this word because I relate deeply and believe it contains the same essence in many different forms. From my experience, the void is a space where time no longer exists and your to-do list disappears. A place where there are no attachments, plans or expectations. It is the unknown, raw and untouched, holding pure potential that ignites passion. It is a feeling that simply allows me to be present, and it is an opening that reveals my most authentic wisdom.

I find this void in the still darkness of my restorative yoga practice. Just like black paint, this darkness contains all the colors. It has the potential to create anything because it contains everything. I am inspired and reminded of this void when I see children play with no sense of time with whomever or whatever catches their attention. I found this space in my early teens through drawing and painting, when I had no other way of processing emotions or expressing myself. I experience this void when I spend time in Nature, backpacking through canyons, over mountains and within forests. The wilderness is home to a raw, natural world that when untouched thrives on the balance of cycles, an interconnected web of life. When I enter these places, I absorb the essence of this web and feel more connected and alive.

These are all examples of how I tap into the void. When I visit this space inside of me, no matter how I get there, I embrace my truth and accept nourishment.

Yoga is a love story where things fall apart. Truth is revealed, Freedom is found, and Clarity allows us to take right action. If you're ready to journey to the void to meet your wisest healer and embrace your truth, reach out and tell me more about what you're seeking. I would love to meet you and hear your story.

Much love,

Alyssa Montana
